Setting Up Your Own Call Center?

QUESTION:

I am interested in telephone triage and I think it would be a great benefit to the community. How do you get a telephone triage business started? I think there would be a few other local Rn's in my area that would love to get started with this. Our local ER is always flooded with patients that don't really need to be there , and our MD's in town are always getting phone calls that can either wait until the next day or can easily be answered by a RN. Can you help?

If you don't have protocols yet, I'd suggest that you take a look at the Woodke protocols… they're customizable as well and organized around the nursing process (developed for nurses by nurses). They're also comprehensive (Adult, Ped, OB/Gyn). You can get information about them at www.ambulatory-innovations.com.
